I just recently bought Fallout 3 game of the year edition on Steam (cause of the sweet deal). It installed fine and all that jazz, and whenever I try to start a new game, the intro video plays, and then when it finishes it just sits at a frozen black screen, then the 'Fallout 3 has stopped working' error sometimes comes up. The only way to exit is with ctrl+alt+del. I am on Win 7 64 bit. Here are my specs (all drivers are (I'm fairly sure) up to date).
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
CPU - Intel Core i3 processor 550
Ram - 4 GB DDR3 memory
HDD - 1 TB Hard Drive![Fallout 3 Crash At New Game Fallout 3 Crash At New Game](/uploads/1/2/3/7/123746516/437754544.jpg)
OPTICAL - DVD-Super multi drive
Video - ATi Radeon HD 5450 512 MB
I have searched the forums for other problems similar to mine, but every time the solution has been that they where on a laptop with an integrated GPU. Someone please help! If any more information is needed I can post it.

So. Fallout 3 for the PC arrived today. I was the happiest person in the world, or at least really damn excited. I installed it, fired it up on ultra settings, clicked 'new game', watched the epic intro sequence ('war..war never changes'), came rainbows, and then exploded, as i got a message saying 'Fallout 3 has stopped working.' This happened every time the cinematic ended when trying to start a new game. I tried it with different settings, tried reinstalling the game, tried a fix i found for it (http://www.gamingnewslink.com/2008/10/29/fixing-fallout-3-crashing-freezing-and-installation-errors/), which didn't work, and then I uninstalled that ffshow thing, and it still didn't work. as far as I can tell, using google, that was the only known solution to this problem. Well, that kinda blows, to say the least. I'm messing around with stuff..maybe I will manage to get it to work. otherwise, I will have to wait for a patch, and hope.
on the other hand, maybe I will get some work done.

EDIT: Quick summary for anybody else with this problem: I was able to fix it by reinstalling the nVidia drivers (GPU drivers). I also uninstallled ffshow, as per the instructions on some sites i found (see above) but I don't know if that contributed to the fix or not,

Alright I installed a game maybe 3 weeks ago on my PC. But when I downloaded the game I still had Fallout 3 installed on my PC as well. So I played my new game and I stopped 4 hours in and wanted to play Fallout 3. Well went I went to activate FOMM, it said 'Fallout 3 could not be found in directory blah blah' so I went to the Fallout 3 folder in the C Drive and found the folder only had one file which was 5 megabytes. So I reinstalled it, and I noticed all my files I downloaded were gone(mods). So I went to my downloads file were I kept all my downloaded mods. So I downloaded TWO files: A underground Hideout, and FOOK2(big mistake I know) and now when I try to play these two mods(activated with FOMM) it doesn't work. Just activating the underground Hideout? Crashes. Just running the main file fallout 3 and it still crashes. I even tryed running it from the file and it still crashed. Also reinstalling dosen't work. So my question is, how can I get Fallout 3 to work again, so I have to buy a new computer? Also I had FOSE 1.7, the most recent patch for fallout. Windows live disabler, and Achriveinvalidated or w/e it's called.
